Baby #2 hatched April 7, 2013. Another photo will be uploaded when I get a chance.
There is a little baby amazon about to make its way into the world. The egg is pipping. I am anxiously waiting her/his arrival to put a happy ending to this week.
Egg #2 was laid on March 9 and #3 on March 12. Mommy is as sweet as pie and daddy will jump across the cage at me when I put in their soft food. Odie is doing a great job protecting the nest and feeding Lolita :)
Well it is that time of year again when spring is in the air and Odie & Lolita get ready to raise a new set of babies. They've been very busy the last month preparing their nest box and demanding their soft foods. We woke to their early morning call for food to find an egg in the nest box. And so the season begins.....
I removed the last two babies from the nest box this morning and they happily joined their other two siblings that have been hand fed for a week now. All babies are doing great. Mom and dad are once again sitting next to each other all cuddled up on their perch since Lolita has no mommy duties remaining in the nest box. I always feel bad when I take her babies from her. I may not always get the website photos updated in a timely matter but I do get them uploaded to photobucket so don't forget to click on the link at the bottom of the photo page that says more photos here. I will be adding some more today.
Photo and video have been added. Little green feathers are starting to poke through on #1. They all have their eyes open. #1 to 3 have been banded, should be able to band #4 tomorrow. Going to pull baby #1 & 2 tomorrow and start the hand feeding but going to leave 3 & 4 until mid next week just so the youngest can get a little more of Lolita`s great enzymes. You will see baby 2 moving around in the video, she was waiting to be fed. They`ve all had a little cuddle which I am very fortunate to be able to do as Odie & Lolita are very trusting of us and are great parents. The kids are looking forward to being able to hold them.
I will add a photo or two on at least a weekly bases while they are in the nest box. Every now and then I will have some video to upload. Once I have them out for hand feeding there will be a lot more photos and updates on the babies themselves. I only go in their nest box once in the morning to clean out their pine shavings and put in fresh ones.
Not sure what happened to my post must have typed it and forgot to hit publish. Just for the record, Baby #4 was hatched on March 29.
The 4th egg is pipping, thinking I should have another baby by this evening along with another photo as baby #1 is a week old.
