Here are some comments that we have received from our past clients
Pamella & Family, owners of Kiwi
We are the proud owners of Odie & Lolita's son Kiwi who was born April 2005. I would highly recommend purchasing a feathered family member (because that is what they become) from Michelle & Lorne. Michelle was very diligent in sending photos regularly and there is NOTHING like a hand raised parrot. Her parrots are so tame she trusts them with her own babies. The parrots are as much her children as her own, she cares and loves them all as you will find out through her correspondence. Getting Kiwi from them was a GREAT experience. You will not get that kind of care from every aviary.
Cory & Pancho
My name is Cory, and I am the lifelong guardian of Pancho who hatched at M&L Aviaries on April 9, 2009. I adopted Pancho from M&L Aviaries in November 2009. I have a large flock of birds including a wide variety of species, and most of my flock members are rescues and re-homes. I usually adopt second hand birds because I do not want to
support the many bad pet stores and bad breeders with inhumane care, breeding, and selling practices. I adopted Pancho from M&L Aviaries after I discovered that they are one of few reputable, small - scale breeders of quality companion parrots.
Parrots that develop in a normal, healthy manner as babies are protected against developing any behavioural issues in the future. M&L Aviaries make sure that the babies in their care achieve important developmental milestones. The babies at M&L Aviaries are raised by their parents for the first few weeks of their lives. This is extremely important because the babies learn important information from their parents, develop self identities as parrots, and develop strong immune systems. Michelle and Lorne also make sure that the babies fledge properly and develop flight skills before they go to their new homes. This is essential for the babies to develop normally both physically and mentally. Parrots that do not have these experiences are likely to have severe abnormalities that will affect their quality of life and may never recover.
M&L Aviaries only has one pair of breeding parrots, so they are actually able to spend a lot of time raising and socializing their birds. The term “hand – fed” that is often used does not also mean well – socialized, and breeders with many birds cannot give with kind of attention to the babies. Pancho was socialized with adults and children of both sexes in a family environment. When I came to M&L Aviaries to pick Pancho up, I watched as Michelle and Lorne and their three young children held him, pet him, and kissed him goodbye. It was heartwarming.
Michelle and Lorne really care about their birds. They made sure that I was qualified before approving of me to adopt Pancho. Over the period of almost three months I spent several hours over the phone with Michelle talking about Pancho, how she and Lorne raise their baby amazons, and about their aviary. Michelle answered all of my questions in detail, described to me each available baby’s personality, and made recommendations to me. Michelle also sent me regular email updates with many photos of the babies. When I visited M&L Aviaries to pick up Pancho, I saw for myself that the birds are raised in a clean, cheerful, and enriching environment. When I brought Pancho home, Michelle got in touch with me to make sure Pancho settled in smoothly and comfortably.
I had a great experience with M&L Aviaries and I am extremely happy with Pancho who is a fantastic, healthy, well socialized, and good natured parrot. I recommend M&L Aviaries with no hesitation. If you are looking for a Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot who you want to bring into your family, this aviary is well worth considering.
