And another one hatched out this morning. Lolita let me clean out the pine shavings in her nest box and put in fresh ones this morning. In the process I get to hold the babies. I move them to another part of the nest while I remove any soiled shavings, put in fresh shavings and move the babies back to the spot I took them from. I do this all without touching the egg. It rests on top of its pile of shavings. Odie & Lolita are the exception to this kind of cleaning most breeder pairs would not allow you to do this. They supervise and when I am done they continue to eat.
